10/3/21 Weekly Rally

A weekly round-up of sewing projects, sewing pattern progress, trees, and life.

Seren Dress Pattern Progress

The appeal of a luxurious linen dress called to me. I found this sumptuous  dusty pink linen at Firecracker Fabrics, which was the perfect medium-weight-yet-fluid fabric.

I lengthened my Seren dress pattern by a few inches and it totally changed the feel of the dress. My summer Serens hit above the knee; they feel girlish and youthful. This dress, with such a small alteration, feels like a sage, a witch, a fall goddess.

The size 16 muslin for this pattern is hanging in my grotto – it’s nearly finished! I plan to add length to the final pattern pieces because I like it so much. I’m also adding neckline options. Not sure when this pattern will be ready for grading and testing, but we’re making progress!

New Design IDea

For my second linen indulgence (in a witchy black and grey check!), I wanted to add a button placket, collar stand, and sleeves to the Seren dress pattern.

Adding those meant adjusting the neckline and armscye, which definitely warranted making a muslin! I used the shorter blouse version of the pattern to save on fabric.

I think Jenny looks ready for adventure! She also got a little bandana from the left over pink linen.

On a Personal Note:

It was my birthday this past week! I turned 360 years old.

It was a lovely birthday, apart from a small car accident we had while transporting my beautiful cake.

Thankfully, no body was hurt. Not even the cake. My car is a little worse for wear, though.

Final Thoughts

Here’s another styling of the dress!

I love to cinch it with a belt or a tie I make from the fabric. This dress looks really great with a leather belt, so I didn’t bother to make a tie. I love wearing it with leggings, boots, and a big cardigan, too!

Thanks for stopping by for my weekly rally! What projects are you working on? Let me know in the comments!

May your shears always be sharp and your bobbins full!
