I love using glass jars and bottles! They look chic and are great for displaying flowers or protecting small collections like buttons and notions. And we all know re-using items is great for the environment.
I use cleaned up spice jars for my protective salts and spell ingredients, and vintage jars I found to show off my dried flowers. The #1 way to make an old glass jar look décor-worthy is removing those pesky labels! Some are very hard to remove, leaving a sticky residue and label remnants behind.
So here is my easy, no scrub solution to sticky, stubborn labels to make your repurposed glass jars shine!
Supplies
Bowl, hot water, dish soap, baking soda
Instructions
Fetch a bowl big enough to submerge your jar. Fill it with hot water, a dash of dish soap, and a tablespoon of baking soda! The baking soda is key here. Mix everything up and carefully submerge your jar in the solution-filled bowl. Make sure the entire label is under water.
Allow the jar to soak overnight and the label will slide right off. Be sure to throw the soggy label out right away because it will re-harden when it dries and will need to be soaked off again.
If you don’t mind scrubbing, you can also make a paste with baking soda and water, which is good for removing any residue from your glass artifact. Soak your jar in vinegar and water to remove any smells that linger.
