Have you sewn a Mood Sewciety Pattern yet? I’ve been seeing them in my inbox, but shied away from trying them until the release of the Willow Cardigan.
I’ve been wanting some dramatic bishop sleeves AND a big cozy sweater- this has both! I figured an over-sized, knit pattern was a safe trial project (no muslin and no modifications).
This is the most dramatic garment I own, between the sleeves and the length. It also has spacious patch pockets. I adore it.
Normally I don’t use the same fabric as the sample, but the pink waffle knit was too irresistible. Although very light, its super cozy and warm. I know it’s a good fabric when my husband eyes me jealously, asking, “Where’s MY waffle knit sweater??”
The designer suggested using French seams for neatness. I’ve never bothered to do that with knits before – usually I’m too excited over saving a bit of time! It was just as easy as woven French seams and is worth the extra effort since the side seams are occasionally visible.
I enjoyed working with this pattern! The drafting is solid; it fits as expected. Be forewarned, it’s not the best for beginners as the instructions are sparse. You need to have a little sewing knowledge up front if you want it to go smoothly. I’ll definitely be checking out more of their designs!
