Chaos Quilted Pillow

chaos quilt pillow

The short pre-holiday work week was quite busy for me and I picked up my quilting supplies again to cope. I made three 18″ quilt tops and turned one into a little round pillow with a linen back.

I made the pillow inside the cover out of muslin. The cover closes with an invisible zipper on the side.

It’s very cute but quite wobbly around the zipper. I think any future quilt pillows will be square because of that. This little dud will be mine.

What do you think of my chaos pillow?

Chain Stitch

Usually, I do the chaos quilt embroideries with  a simple backstitch, but I’ve been wanting to try something more challenging. I’ve seen some beautiful chain-stitched embroidery online; I love the texture and flow of the stitches.

I watched a couple of youtube videos and started chain-stitching! The first star I made was a little rough but now that I’ve gotten the hang of it, my stitches look pretty nice.

I’m not sure if I will use this for lettering. It’s great for shapes and drawings, though! I’ll definitely keep incorporating this stitch.

Final Thought

My photoshoot at the Phipps Conservatory was a blast! We took photos in the fern and orchid rooms, which were beautiful, full of lush green leaves and odd flowers.

Outside the Phipps is a rolling hillside with beautiful, large trees. We took advantage of the few remaining leaves and got some really cool pictures!

I’ll be posting more of them soon, but for now enjoy this mirthful twirl! I just love this mossy old wall, don’t you?
